Over $600 Raised for Stefanie Spielman Fund
![]() |
Through the hard work of 8-year old Macee, the Stingrays Tournament was able to raise over $600 for the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research this weekend. Macee sold pink wristbands with the inscription "Hope Faith Love" throughout the tournament. The Stingrays would like to thank Macee for her hard work as well as anyone who made a donation to the wristband sale. |
SR 315 Construction Information - Important
Rt 315 is the major north-south route that most everyone will use to exit onto Lane Avenue going west that will take you to either Coffey Road Park for the 10U and 12U age groups or to Fred Beekman Park for the 14U, 16U, and 18U age groups. There will be construction on Rt 315 during the tournament that will affect some traffic patterns. All incoming traffic to the tournament will not be affected by the construction - you will be able to exit off of Rt 315 at Lane Avenue whether you are traveling north or south - so no worries on arrival. However, when you are leaving the tournament, you will not be able to use the Lane Avenue entrance ramps to get back onto Rt 315.
If you have to go north on Rt 315, use the following directions:
From Coffey Road Park, turn left onto Woody Hayes Drive going west to the first traffic light at Fyffe Road. Turn right onto Fyffe Road going north to Lane Avenue. Turn right onto Lane Avenue going east. Turn left onto Olentangy River Road going north. Turn left onto Ackerman Road going west. Take the north bound entrance ramp (item #10 on the attached map) to your right to get onto Rt 315 going north.
From Fred Beekman Park, turn right onto Lane Avenue going east to Olentangy River Road. Turn left onto Olentangy River Road going north. Turn left onto Ackerman Road going west. Take the north bound entrance ramp (item #10 on the attached map) to your right to get onto Rt 315 going north.
If you have to go south on Rt 315, use the following directions:
From Coffey Road Park, turn left onto Woody Hayes Drive going west to the first traffic light at Fyffe Road. Turn right onto Fyffe Road going north to Lane Avenue. Turn right onto Lane Avenue going east. Turn right onto Olentangy River Road going south. Take the south bound entrance ramp (item #8 on the attached map) to your left just before you get to Goodale Boulevard to get onto Rt 315 going south.
From Fred Beekman Park, turn right onto Lane Avenue going east to Olentangy River Road. Turn right onto Olentangy River Road going south. Take the south bound entrance ramp (item #8 on the attached map) to your left just before you get to Goodale Boulevard to get onto Rt 315 going south.
Important Parking Information
Ohio State (not the Stingray organization) will charge for parking this year. This is a campus wide policy implemented last fall and is not unique to our tournament. One of the issues is that this will add a few minutes to your parking experience and I wanted to make sure that you and your families are aware of the correct procedure. Please refer to attached file regarding use of the PayNDisplay machine. For parking locations, refer to the attached OSU Recreational Sports Map. At Coffey Road Park, the parking lot is located just south of the playing fields on Coffey Road. At Fred Beekman Park, the parking lot is located just south of the playing fields on Carmack Road. Both lots are color coded black with white letters. When you drive into the parking lots, you will see the PayNDisplay machine - it is very prominent. From Friday morning until 6:00 pm, parking is $1.00 per hour. You will need to estimate the amount of time you will be at the playing fields and buy a ticket for that amount. After 6:00 pm on Friday, parking reverts to a $3.00 flat rate for the rest of the day and the full days of Saturday and Sunday. After you purchase your parking ticket, you must take it back to your car and put it on the dashboard face up. With the amount of teams coming in during the morning hours, there will be a waiting line at the PayNDisplay machine. So please add an extra 10 to 15 minutes onto your planned arrival time at the playing fields. As we have done in the past, we will be running golf carts to help transport teams at Fred Beekman Park from the parking lot to the playing fields because the lot here is a bit remote from the fields. Coffey Road Park does not suffer from the same logistics as Beekman - so no golf carts down there. We will be running (3) golf carts continuously from 2 hours before the start of the first game until the last games are completed each day.

PARKING Ohio State Transportation and Parking has informed us that parking will no longer be free. Please go to the following web site for further explanation: http://tp.osu.edu/visitorsmain/parking/payndisplay.shtml Basically, it should cost ~$10 to $12 per car for the weekend - that will be dependant upon how long you are at Fred Beekman Park on Friday. The Ohio Stingrays have no control over this policy and receive no revenue from the parking fees. Thank you for understanding. RULES PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE 2009 TOURNAMENT RULES BELOW AND READ THEM WEATHER The Tournament Committee can and will control as many aspects as possible to insure that your team has the best playing experience possible, but weather is not one of them. In the event of inclement weather, The Ohio State University and the Tournament Committee will do their very best to get all games in - the grounds staff will be prepared with adequate materials for getting wet fields into playing shape. But, you are applying to the tournament realizing that the Tournament Committee reserves the right to alter this event in any manner we see fit to accomplish the mission of showcasing the softball athletes with the maximum number of games possible under the circumstances. Coaches will receive a rain line phone number at check-in. REFUNDS If the tournament is rained out, refunds will be based on (Entry Fees minus Non-Recoverable Costs minus Games Played) divided by (Paid Entries).
